A Hunter’s Cry Walkthrough – Lighthouse Quest Solution

Follow these steps to complete Sea of Thieves Adventure 6 before September 1, then the episode and its limited-time cosmetics will be forever unobtainable.

Talk to Larinna, then the Pirate Lord, at any outpost

As usual, the adventure begins by asking Larinna about it. She will tell you that there is no time for chitchat and that you need to talk to the Pirate Lord, who is waiting for you on the dock by your ship. Talk to him and he will tell you your mission: venture into the Sea of the Damned and save Merrick.

Sea of the Damned can be reached by sailing through the unmissable glowing green portal near the outpost – it will only be there because you are actively playing this quest. Stock up on supplies, as you’ll soon be engaging in ship battles, then enter the portal.

Talk to the Pirate Lord on your ship, then sink three ghost ships

Once you’ve crossed the threshold of the Sea of the Damned, the Pirate Lord will appear on your ship and tell you the next steps. You need to reach the top of the Damned Sea Dog Tavern, but there is no state to allow such a crossing at the moment.

You must repair your way to the top by performing a series of tasks, and it is important to know that this section is timed. If you are the first crew to arrive in this region, you will be the ones to start the timer, which runs for approximately 45 minutes. If you arrive later, you will play with the current timer. This makes things difficult as not reaching Merrick before the time runs out will result in a failure and the need to start over from the beginning.

During this time, as you approach the island with the tavern on it, you will sink at least three ghost ships to complete the related deed. If you do that, the rest of the deeds will come naturally. When you’re ready to go ashore, dock near the southern lighthouse.

Grab the Flame of Souls from the nearby brazier, then make your way into the southern lighthouse

Enter the dock and use your lantern to capture the flame of souls from the nearby burner, then carry the light over to the two unlit burners at the bottom of the stairs leading to the locked beacon. Lighting the burners opens the door, so go inside and then up to the top.

Light the beacon

Once you’ve climbed to the top, you’ll want to light the beacon, then watch out for some enemy phantoms that will appear and draw their swords at you. Defeat them to give yourself another breather, then redirect the light of the lighthouse to point directly at the combustion chamber below it and to the right – it’s the only one, so you can’t miss it.

Go to the eastern lighthouse

On this second beacon dock, you’ll want to repeat the process: light the burners at the bottom of the stairs to unlock the door, go up the stairs, light the beacon, defeat the ghosts, and light another burner on the central building one more time. This will allow you to climb onto the dock on this central island.

Go up the stairs and light all five burners along the way

On the central island, the puzzle is a little different. You will go up the spiral staircase and light all five burners along the way. This allows you to clear a blocked capstan that you must use to enter a rocky stairwell. Once you’ve removed the capstan and dispatched the phantoms, turn the capstan to open the door, then go up.

Light the burner next to the broken bridge, then return to the eastern beacon

You’ll come to a bridge you couldn’t possibly cross, so light the burner to the left of it, which will reveal a second, unreachable cauldron across the gap. To light this, return to the eastern lighthouse and redirect the light to repair the bridge.

If you are not sailing alone, you should have one person solve the lighthouse tasks while another sinks three ships.

Return to the bridge and continue on the path

Now that you can cross the bridge, your next stop will be when you come to a broken mast hanging off the mountainside. Light the burner next to it, which in turn will reveal another unreachable burner nearby.

Go to the northern lighthouse and perform the normal steps

At the northern lighthouse, you can light the beacon again, defeat some ghosts and turn the light until it lights up the newly discovered burner. Return to the mast and continue ascending the path.

Guess what? Light another burner

That’s right, you’ll eventually come to another burner, so light it, return to the northern beacon, and redirect the light to light this unlit burner. Return to the path again.

Lower the drawbridge

Your back-and-forth routine is over, I promise. At the end of the now completed path, you can flip a capstan to lower a drawbridge, allowing you to rescue Merrick. A cutscene will play where the Pirate Lord and Warsmith exchange harsh words. You will then respawn on your boat.

Talk to Larinna and take Merrick’s letter

You’re almost done, but Merrick has a favor to ask. Talk to Larinna at any outpost and receive Merrick’s letter to his wife Serick. She resides at the North Star Seapost, (map route H10) east of the New Golden Sands Outpost.

Delivering this letter will complete your adventure and unlock both of the quest’s limited-time cosmetics. You are ready to embark on Adventure 7, The Siren’s Prize, in September.
