- But they face competition from Ligue 1 side Nice for the midfielder’s signature
Chelsea are ready to make an improved £12m offer for Inter Milan’s highly-rated midfielder Cesare Casadei.
Casadei, 19, is yet to make his senior professional debut for Inter but is regarded as one of the hottest prospects in Italian football, with Chelsea having a £6million bid rejected for the youngster earlier this summer.
They will now go back in with a higher offer, but face competition from Nice for Casadei’s signature.

New Chelsea owner and interim sporting director Todd Boehly continues to support Tuchel in the market
Thomas Tuchel’s side have been heavily scouting the midfielder, with the Italian giants holding out for £12m.
It is believed that Casadei would initially be brought in as an academy signing, with the aim of eventually putting the Italy youth international into the first team.
It has also been reported that if Chelsea were successful in their pursuit, he could be loaned back to Serie A to continue his development.
The move for Casadei comes as part of the ‘Vision 2030’ strategy that the new owners, led by Todd Boehly, have bought into.
With the Blues’ midfield pairing in yesterday’s 2-2 draw with Spurs the likes of Jorginho and N’Golo Kante aged 30 and 31 respectively, the club are aware that the squad needs to be refreshed with further youthful talent.
This has already been seen with the £20m signing of Aston Villa’s Carney Chukwuemeka, after the midfielder excelled for England at the European Under-19s.

Casadei is extremely highly regarded at Inter and speaking about their young midfielder earlier this summer, Inter chief executive Beppe Marotta said:
“Today he is a young talent. He still has a long way to go before he can become a top player, but we are very proud to have him with us.
“He is training with the first team, he is proving to be at a very good level.
– Right now I can only talk about him in positive terms, as he is above average for his age, and after that a lot depends on him.
“It will depend on how he is able to map out his future, because apart from the technical qualities, you also have to have the personal ones which are often more important in football.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea continue to look to strengthen their first-team squad for Tuchel before the window closes at the end of this month.
Following the departures of Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku, a striker is a priority with Barcelona forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang strongly linked with the club, while they are also reportedly close to a deal for the Catalan club’s midfielder Frenkie de Jong.
